I had met this family once before, last winter, so I knew
that two of the most adorable strawberry blonde boys were about to spend an
hour with me and my camera, I was pumped!
Mom wanted some family portraits of the boys in their immaculate
matching button up shirts. So we did
that we explored the gardens of Willow Park, picked wild flower bouquets for their
mom, the boys played chase in a field of evening light, stopping occasionally
to let my lens up close to capture their gleeful eyes. As we moved onward to do some frog hunting
down at the pond I quietly asked their mom if she would object to stripping
them down and letting them play in the creek with me. I just had this vision, I was worried she
would think I was crazy, and she might have, but we were in the last 10 minutes
of the session we had gotten tones of great shots, so she agreed and the 3 of
us traipsed into the creek with some paper boats, and permission to get dirty!
The resulting images are some of my very favorite, to me,
they capture these brothers in this moment of time and innocence, a moment that
is simply the very image of boyhood.
Thanks Janis for letting me get creative, I love this session.
